Zug is the cantonal capital and, with just over 32,000 inhabitants, the largest municipality in the canton; the town lies on the north-eastern shore of Lake Zug at the foot of the Zugerberg. Its historic core is the old town with the Zytturm clock tower, the late Gothic town hall and the church of St. Oswald. The town also includes Oberwil, the Zugerberg and the Alpli exclave on the Rossberg.
