Vorstadt and the bay of the 1887 disaster

On 5 July 1887 the lakeshore of the Vorstadt district of Zug collapsed: 35 houses sank into the lake and eleven people died. The resulting bay, about 150 metres long, is now part of the Vorstadt promenade; a memorial stone from 1887 commemorates the disaster.
