Menzingen lies at just over 800 m above sea level in the pre-Alpine moraine landscape between Lake Zug, Lake Ägeri and Lake Zurich, which the federal government lists as a landscape of national importance. The municipality, with the villages of Menzingen, Edlibach and Finstersee, is the canton's second-largest by land area. It is known for the Gubel with the Capuchin convent Maria Hilf, the Höllgrotten caves in the Lorze gorge and the teaching tradition of the Menzingen Sisters.
