The Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross was founded in Menzingen in 1844; the «Menzingen Sisters» now work all over the world. Their institute in the village includes the convent, a garden, a cemetery chapel and a hermitage; until 2006 they ran the Bernarda teacher training college here.
