Unterägeri lies at the western end of Lake Ägeri, where the Lorze leaves the lake at the Birkenwäldli. The municipality also includes Neuägeri and Mittenägeri; to the south it reaches the Wildspitz, the highest point in the canton. The village has the parish church of the Holy Family, built in 1857–1860 to plans by Ferdinand Stadler.
